Michael Jackson is someone who doesn't seem to be getting much middle ground. Either he is getting heartfelt goodbyes or he is getting trashed and the people giving those tributes are getting bashed for doing so.

There are those that think he was a pedophile (me included).

There are those who will twist themselves into logical knots explaining why a 40 year old man sleeping with children that he's not related to is just peachy keen. Typically this knot twisting is first made possible by the person first being obsessed with him out of some basic belief that famous people are worth being obsessed with.

I personally couldn't give a crap.

I think some of the feelings about Jackson's death is just misplaced. I think it forces reflection and that can be uncomfortable since childhood is awesome and being an adult sucks ass.

People don't really feel bad that he died or will no longer be around. But his death forces a sentimental trip down memory lane for a lot of people especially anyone over 30. It is kind of sad to have a flood of memories that were "huge" to so many people as kids or teenagers. The stuff with Thriller was huge when I was a kid, We Are The World was a huge global event and the list goes on.

Really even his turn towards weirdness and the legal stuff are memories for people just bad ones. He went from being loved or liked by most of the planet to being a weird creep to most Americans pretty quickly. It was a huge fall from grace in just a couple of years.
